Hi,
I’m Becky Bullard.

I went from slacktivist to activist
& now I wanna help others do the same.

First I got mad.
Then I got moving.

Like many of us, I was upset after the 2016 election. But the person I was MOST upset with was myself. I’d been expecting someone else who was “more informed, more qualified, more outspoken” to create change on my behalf. After Trump won in 2016, I realized I needed to be the change.

At the time, I had no idea who my reps were, how our political structures worked, or where I could plug in. So I spent a couple years showing up, asking questions, and taking notes.

Professional rabble-rouser.

I spent most of my career as a communications strategist and copywriter for clients like Dell Technologies, Chipotle, Texas.gov and many others. I learned how to identify what motivates audiences to action and how to translate complicated jargon into relatable, inspiring words and images. Now I bring the lessons I learned in advertising to advocacy and activism.

In late 2018, I teamed up with two brilliant women who had similar backgrounds and passions, Ashley Cheng and Kristen Gunn, and we formed Rouser, a creative civic engagement company. In 2019, we launched The Rabble Texas politics podcast, which quickly became a hub for progressive Texans looking to connect and learn about state politics in an environment that’s more dance club than lecture hall.

Rouser has been featured in Austin Woman Magazine and in a Richard Linklater-produced documentary called “The Pushback.” In 2020 we won a Creative Initiative Award from Women Communicators of Austin, and in our first year of existence we were named “Organization of the Year” by the Travis County Democratic Party.

Democrasexy is the
next evolution of my journey.

Pleasure activism, feminine power, creativity, whimsy, and stubborn optimism.
