Awhile back, I ran the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Every couple miles there was a Stones cover band, or someone dressed in a banana suit, or someone with a squirt gun full of Gatorade. When my lungs started to burn or my feet felt like they couldn’t take another step, these antics made me gasp out a giggle or get a little dance in my pants and I found I could keep going, one mile at a time.
Organizing for social and political change is a goldarn marathon.
